Welcome to the On-line "Broward County Lab Safety Course for Technical Education Teachers." The course has been designed to provide you with the necessary skills, knowledge and tools to help you assess the safety of your lab and to assist you in the development of an effective safety plan for your lab. This core safety course is not program specific and therefore can be utilized by all technical instructors.
This course is designed in a manner that is easy to follow. The links on the right side of the screen are set up in the order that the lessons need to be completed. Provided that you follow the links sequentially, you should have no difficulty completing the necessary assignments. Assignments will not be accepted out of order or partially completed. To begin, just click on the first link which is Lesson 1 Lab Planning. That will take you right into the first lesson. You can either read the information online or print it out for reading at your leisure. To proceed to the next assignment/lesson click the next link.
A list of assignment due dates is provided to assist you in completing the course in the allotted time frame. This course should be treated as any other formal course and work is expected to be turned in completely and on time. Failure to complete course requirements by the closing date of the course will result in denial of inservice points. Re-registration will be limited to available slots in future sessions on a first come first served basis. Assignments may be returned to Marc Lavoro, via e-mail or through the pony. Address pony envelopes to:Marc Lavoro, CTACE, Sawgrass Technology Park, Building H. Keep copies of all assignments for your records.
Upon completion of this course you will be required to complete the on-line course appraisal form via the new HRMS system. If this is not done, you will not be eligible to receive your inservice points. Your inservice facilitator can assist you with this process. Successful completion of all course requirements will qualify you to receive sixty (60) inservice points.
